The love of swimming came early for Katherine Kuhl. From the age of five, she spent the majority of her life in or around the water swimming competitively. Once her time of swimming at Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, Illinois came to an end, she excitedly continued her competitive career at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. When she wasn’t swimming, she was on a pool deck lifeguarding, teaching swimming lessons to all age levels, coaching others to swim competitively at the Edwardsville YMCA and various other summer pools in the southern Illinois area. After college, she helped manage a seasonal public pool in Nashville, Illinois. Swimming inspired Katherine to focus her recent graduate school thesis project on joint pain management and water exercise. She is eager to keep people of all ages safe, happy and healthy around the water.
She is excited to bring her knowledge of aquatics, specifically swimming and swimming lessons, to the McKendree Metro Rec Plex team and yearns to incorporate her acquired skills to the fitness outlet as well. Currently, she is a certified Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and a Certified Health Education Specialist, with plans of finishing a Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguard Safety Instructor, and Water Safety Instructor certifications in the immediate future
