Blake Driver Brown was born and raised in Belleville IL. He grew up playing a variety of sports and has always been passionate about health and fitness. After graduating from Belleville West high school, he attended college at Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he first earned a BS in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, followed by earning an MS Ed in Exercise Science. During his masters degree he was also a teaching assistant and taught a variety of physical education, nutrition, and exercise science classes for the Kinesiology department, as well as performing research within the field of motor behavior.
Besides his Master of Science in the Education of Exercise Science, he has also been certified through the American College of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer since 2011. He also holds group fitness certifications in TRX and Keiser Spin. Transitioning from creating and leading team football and wrestling workouts in high school to leading and teaching group fitness classes in college was a very natural process for him in his freshmen year at SIU.
He’s worked with individuals on both ends of the weight gain/weight loss spectrum from the small and frail working to build muscle and put on weight to the obese and overweight who need help exercising safely and efficiently as to not hurt their joints in the process of losing weight and getting back down to a normal and healthy weight. Regardless of who they are or what there current situation may be, he views all new people he meets and will coach/train similarly: if you are willing to listen to his advice and put in the time and effort it will take to get to where you want to be, he can and will help you get there.
He is a huge outdoorsmen and feels most at one with himself and life when he’s doing something physical out in the wilderness. During the fall his favorite thing to do with any free time he can find is to archery deer hunt. He also plays competitive ultimate Frisbee with his collegiate alum team here and there around the country and is about to start coaching the Emge Jr. High wrestling team this winter.
