This is an energetic and enjoyable ice skating program. Sessions will be 30 minutes in length. The goal is to develop balance, coordination and rhythm through the use of music, to introduce the correct technique for forward skating, backward skating, stopping, turning, jumping and the four basic edges. This session will have theme days and incentives.
A dynamic new program that prepares all skaters for every ice sport. A 50 minute skate session with 90% continuous movement guided through themed activities running in a circuit format. There will be a complete series of balance, control, and agility skills that will prepare skaters for any ice skating sport or recreational skating.
Adult Plex Skate is a 50 minute skating program for adults 18+. No previous skating experience is required. Classes are taught in a group format where skaters are grouped according to their ability. The class will have group warm up, lesson time, and practice time. It will be taught by our Metrorecplex coacher. The number of coaches will depend on registration numbers.
Session will include: Off Ice Orientation (for new skaters), on ice warm up, group basic skills for each level, edge work with practice time at the end.
This is a group figure skating program designed for skaters wanting to pursue the sport of figure skating. Skaters will have the opportunity to learn fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of stroking, edge development, ice dancing, freestyle, and theatre on ice. The program has been developed in a progressive sequential manner which includes awards / incentives and will be coached by our coaches.
Plex Power Skate is an action-packed, high energy instructional power skating program geared towards hockey skaters that focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance in the learn to train phase of the long-term athlete development. Skills, techniques and conditioning drills are taught in a progressive format that emphasizes how the skills apply to game situations. Our focus is on developing proper skating technique and teaching the players the concepts behind the techniques so they can better understand the system. We start by slowing the players down and teaching them the correct way of skating. Then we bring the player back up to speed. The players will develop a Longer stride, use Less energy, and will be able to skate Faster!
Is geared to skaters who already have basic forward and backward skating skills (they must be able to skate the length of the rink using alternate strides) and are able to stop on command. For safety reasons participants should wear full hockey equipment. Coach to skater ratio is 1:10
