The McKendree Metro Rec Plex is the new home to the United States Navy as they administer the Navy Physical Screening Test (PST) and the Navy Warrior Challenge Program (NWCP). During the PST, recruits must complete five events. These include 500 yd swim, push-ups for 2 mins, sit-ups for 2 mins, pull-ups, and a 1.5-mile run. Furthermore, the NWCP is an elite 8-week program that demands agility, physical strength, hard work, and grit from its participants. Enlistees that participate and complete the NWCP are then eligible to test into an array of remarkable careers such as:

  • Navy Seals
  • Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewman (SWCC)
  • Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)
  • U.S. Navy Diver
  • Aviation Rescue Swimmer (AIRR)

After participants complete the Navy Warrior Challenge Program, they must meet the minimum requirements for each specific career listed above. Those who do qualify will be entitled to special rewards specific to their chosen career field. The McKendree Metro Rec Plex takes pride in knowing that they are assisting the efforts of the Navy in whatever way possible.
